Change Drive Icon in Windows 7

With a little modification in the Registry, you can change the drive icon. The result will resemble the usual icons that you see on a CD or DVD that rely on the file autorun.inf

Before starting this trick, first prepare the file icon that you want to make icons. Files that can be used can be a file. Ico or. Etc. that contain one or more icons. If the necessary files are available, proceed to the following steps:

1. Go to the Registry Editor by clicking "Start", then type regedit.

2. In the Registry Editor window, go to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer.

3. Click the right mouse button on the right side of the window and select "New> Key".

4. Name the new key DriveIcons for ye make it.

5. Create again a new key with a name corresponding to the drive icon that you want to change. If the icon you want to change the drive is drive C, use C as a new key name.

6. Once again, create a new key with the name DefaultIcon.

7. Now, the contents of the Value Data from the key DefaultIcon the default location (path) icon. If the icon is located in a DLL file, use the format C: \ full_path \ icon_file.dll, x in typing the path.

8. If so, restart the computer to see the changes that occur in your drive icon.
